Oh wow. Um. That’s a tough situation you’ve got there. Do you happen to know anyone in Miami? If not… I don’t recommend it but… I’ve used tumblr as a resource before. It’s just that you’ve got to find the right people and trust your gut. I ended up getting a response and stayed with a girl at her apartment near her school campus. She was really nice and let me stay with her for a few days (granted, my post was pretty urgent since I got kicked out of my boyfriend’s house). Tumblr can be a really great support system but trust goes both ways.

Anyway, if you really need a place to stay, I’m sure I know some people in Miami that could help out. I can’t guarantee it though.

I actually find that personal PayPal pages work better than mine. I feel like somehow people are more inclined to believe one person’s story of their relationship than to believe me, who might, y’know, take the money and not donate it or whatever. :/ I wish I had a job. Or else I would totally be putting some towards the couples on here who could use it.

 I met Jay through a role play site a little more than two years ago now. We were just friends as the age difference was big and it made me oblivious to the fact that she had any legit interest in me. Plus, you gotta factor in the “meeting someone on the internet” thing. I will say that when we added each other on FB, I was like O_O because she was lovely. I didn’t pursue anything though. She’s from NV and I’m from NJ, and google maps says we’re about 2,484 miles apart.

 Ugh. Last August, Jay went to Pride and I went to a gay bar with some friends and we were texting the whole time. Jay was bummed about not getting any action at Pride, and I was brave because of the terrible mixed drinks I’d had, so I told her that I would make out with her. Hell yeah, of course I would’ve. She was attractive and I’d gotten to know her quite well over the last year or so. This comment opened up a whole new world for us.

 The idea that we could actually pursue something legit. After many late night phone calls and flirty banter, Jay asked me to be her girlfriend on October 12, 2011. I happily accepted. We’ve been together since. I was able to visit her for a week over New Years, and I’m going to be with her for nine days in June. We’ll be celebrating our 8 month anniversary together in Disneyland.

The interesting thing about being in an ldr is that you just fall so fast. I think it is because we arent afraid to show are true colors since you dont really have anything to lose in the beginning. Then all of a sudden you are head over heals <3

Communicate as openly and honestly as possible. A lot of arguments can break up in LDRs just for the simple fact that you don’t get to see the other person as often as you want to. Remind each other of your feelings, keep the romance alive so that there’s no time for petty arguments. And if you do have arguments, talk through it. Never go to bed angry at your partner, that’s the quickest way to kill a relationship.   If you need a minute to get your thoughts together during the argument, tell your partner and gracefully and politely get off the phone and call back when you know you won’t say something to personally offend the other. Being irritated at something is one thing but don’t turn your partner into your own personal punching bag. And once the argument is over, don’t bring it up again. Get over the issue. It’s toxic to hold onto things because things build up over time. Resolve, and move on.
